2012 Switchback Songwriters Weekend

April 20-21-22

 

If you love writing songs, this is your weekend! Last year's event was a huge success, so we are once again offering this very unique opportunity to visit one of the most beautiful spots along the Mississippi in a carefully restored mansion on an elegant estate for a weekend of creativity, camaraderie, relaxation and music.

At the beautiful Four Mounds Inn in Dubuque, Iowa
 
Who should attend?
Anyone who loves to write songs or is a fan of songwriting, young or old, pro or amateur!

 

What are we doing?
Creating Songs–we will discuss songs, write songs and share songs!
Relaxation–sleep late, take naps eat freshly prepared meals created exclusively by the Four Mounds Inn-keeper.
Reflection–allow the natural beauty of the Four Mounds and the Mississippi river to restore your soul. Hiking trails and the nearby town of historic Dubuque, Iowa await you!

The Mayfly Dance DANCE and the Mayfly Dance CRUISE!

Friday, June 22 and Saturday June 23, 2012

 

The 7th annual Mayfly Dance Cruise will be a sunset cruise with dinner on the evening of June 23, 2012. The cruise will again be conducted by Mississippi Explorer Cruises and will involve an excursion guided by an on-board naturalist through some of the backwater channels of the River while Switchback provides music on board. These rarely seen areas offer a wild and secluded look at one of America's natural treasures, and we will experience this beauty from a unique position on the water as the sun sets over the magnificent Mississippi River.

 

The cost for the cruise including dinner is $99 per person.

This year's Mayfly Dance "Dance" will again be held at TJ Hunter's Banquet Hall on Main Street in Lansing, Iowa at 9 PM on Friday, June 22, 2012, the evening before the cruise. Tickets for the dance can be purchased at the door for $10.

It's Tuscany, Italy and Kinsale & Cabra Castle, Ireland for 2012!

 

Switchback fans will be delighted to know that two tours are scheduled for fall of 2012. The first tour is to Tuscany and Rome, Italy from September 27- October 4, 2012. The tour will spend five nights at the beautiful Villa Casagrande in Tuscany, followed by an overnight stay in Rome, Italy. The land fare for the tour is $1459 per person and includes an English speaking guide, coach, a wine tasting party, a welcome and farewell dinner, full Italian breakfast daily as well as optional full day excursions to Lucca, Pisa, Florence, the Vatican, an illuminated night tour and so much more!

We've chosen Kinsale, Ireland as our next Traveling Down an Irish Road tour. The dates are October 4-11. Kinsale is on the Irish Riviera and has a rich history as well as some of the best seafood in all of Europe. Land price is $1374 per person and includes a guide, coach, full Irish breakfast, a welcome dinner, two dinners at the famous Cabra Castle, a walking tour of historic Kinsale, a visit to Charles Fort, optional excursions and a whole lot more!
