Community Outreach

Singer/songwriters Brian FitzGerald and Martin McCormack of Switchback have worked for over two decades in N. America and Europe presenting programs to help youth gain a deeper appreciation of music. They also present programs for community events, senior citizen groups, and special needs audiences. Switchback offers outreach programs on Celtic music, songwriting, and music appreciation as well as music residencies. Outreach programs can be customized. Please read a Letter of Recommendation from Hope Institute.

“It was one of the best shows we have ever put on for the students – wonderful musical journey that had the students rocking in their seats. The adult chaperones loved it too!”  K. Hall, Woodstock, IL

OUTREACH PROGRAM AT THE HOPE INSTITUTE

“The first week in March, the students of Hope were fortunate to enjoy the eclectic music of the multi-talented duo, Switchback. Supported in part by a grant from the Illinois Arts Council, Marty and Brian were with us for three days of varied programming, including some cooperative classes involving visual art and music. Further educational and interactive sessions explored Irish music and its influence on other musical styles.  These included Switchback’s songwriting expertise (including a song written in collaboration with several students from our classes at CACC!); musical styles through the ages; and high-spirited concerts each afternoon.

Students and staff alike from CACC and the Learning Center were delighted by the dynamic in-the-moment personalities of the gentlemen of Switchback. Their sharing hearts and high quality music drew many of our students to express themselves creatively through spontaneous dancing, clapping, singing, and general merriment.

We can’t wait to have them back!”
